As a business owner in a rural area identifying potential partnerships is key. Because of MACorp’s support my business is making valuable connections across the Northern Neck region and beyond.
My experience with the Girls Empowerment Camp (GEC) was like no other experience. GEC is a learning experience with a fun, safe, loving and warm environment. My first year alone I learned, no matter where you come from with faith you can do anything and in my heart I believe that. The camp traveled to Florida by train. This was a new experience for me. We stayed in the dorm of Bethune-Cookman University, toured the campus and enjoyed learning about the start of the university. My second year we traveled to New York City. We stayed in a wonderful hotel in New Jersey. We experienced New York life and the metro train. We got to be a part of a live concert by the performer Aloe Blacc which aired on the Today Show. The camp dined at the famous Silvia's and watched Aladdin on Broadway. GEC teaches you etiquette and other skills to help you grow as a beautiful young lady. You will also gain wonderful new friends and the desire to come again.
My name is Emyia Doggett and I am a four year attendant of the Girls Empowerment Camp. Every year at the camp has been a great privilege. I'm more than happy to say that it puts a lot of things in perspective for me. The lessons and classes that they provide really make me think before I make a decision. Mrs. Rioland and the other leaders are really good at what they do. They help us and talk to us and for some people it's just about the trips but for me it's more that. When I'm at camp I have a genuinely good time. So thank you Mrs. Rioland and others for all you do. It has been a real blessing to me.
